EPC + Financing

Engineered, procured, built, funded

Engineering, procurement and construction is the easy half. The half that kills projects is funding them. EPC+F means the technical case and the lending case are built together, by the same team, from day one.

The problem it solves

Cheap capital exists. Reaching it is the hard part

Bangladesh Bank runs green refinance windows that let banks lend to qualifying projects at a maximum of 5% to the borrower, against market rates above 10%. Utilisation stays low, and not because money is short. IEEFA found renewable energy took only 7.8% of green lending, with a negligible share reaching rooftop projects. Most lenders simply are not equipped to appraise solar, so applications arrive incomplete and stall.

That is an execution gap, and it is the one we are built around. We hold an MoU with City Bank PLC under their USD 50 million green financing facility, and we prepare the technical case their credit committee needs to say yes.

Facility terms, tenor and pricing are set by the lender and assessed per borrower. We prepare and present the case; the credit decision is theirs.

The E, P and C

Full scope, single accountability

Feasibility and load analysis

Twelve months of consumption data, sanctioned load, roof or land survey, structural capacity and shading. This stage decides system size and whether the project is worth doing at all, which is a cheaper answer to get early.

Design and simulation

Layout, string design, inverter selection and yield modelling. The generation figure that goes to a lender has to be defensible, because their technical adviser will rebuild it.

Procurement

Tier-1 modules, inverters and balance of system, checked against SREDA's approved product list before purchase. An unapproved brand is one of the most common reasons an application is returned, and by then the hardware is on the roof.

Civil, electrical and structural

Mounting design against the actual roof, cable routing, protection, earthing and evacuation. On older industrial buildings the structural assessment often reshapes the layout.

Installation and grid synchronisation

Build, test, commission and connect, coordinated with your distribution utility so production is not interrupted more than necessary.

Regulatory approvals

Net metering applications, SREDA compliance and utility coordination handled as part of the scope rather than left to you between other jobs.

The F

Ways to pay for it

Debt against the savings

You own the asset

A term facility where the monthly electricity reduction is sized to cover the instalment, so the project is close to cash-neutral from commissioning. Green facilities price better than general corporate borrowing, which is the whole reason to route it properly.

PPA or lease

You own nothing

We finance, build and operate; you buy the units at an agreed tariff. No capital outlay and no performance risk. See PPA structures

Equity and joint vehicles

Shared ownership

For larger projects, a special purpose vehicle with an investor alongside you, with transparent EPC, O&M and generation reporting so returns can actually be verified.

Standing behind it

Performance guarantees

A generation estimate is a promise about the next twenty-five years, and it should carry consequences. Where a project is structured with a performance guarantee, that means an agreed minimum performance ratio, compensation if output falls below the tolerated deviation, and monthly and annual generation reporting so you can see it rather than take our word for it.

The point of a guarantee is not reassurance. It is that it forces the party writing the yield model to be honest at the design stage, when honesty is still cheap.

Start with a bill and a roof

We will come back with a system size, a generation model, a financing route and the numbers behind all three, before you commit to anything.
